Our House
in the longest of days,
is when Pooh and his friends,
come out to play.
They come from the woods,
and walk down to my house,
Pooh leads the parade,
they all scream and shout.
The journey's not long,
but its of a different sort.
You can't take a train,
or a car or a boat.
Even though they live really quite far,
they can be here in the blink of an eye.
But why do they come to be and not you?
It's only because I chose for them too..
Like Poetry and Hums there not things to find,
They are things that come when you are around.
The only thing you can possibly do,
Is go to a place were they are bound to pass through.
I built my house on Pooh corner the other day,
And now they come by and tell me all they can say.
If you move to the corner called Pooh
You will be visited by Kanga and Roo.
Pooh will stop by because he can't miss a party,
And then you'll be visited by Piglet, Eeyore and Rabbit.
Owl and Tigger will stop by real soon,
And then you will have enough guests to fill every room.
What I am telling you is really quite true,
As long as you live at the corner called Pooh.
You will have friends through the whole day,
As long as you can listen to what they can say.

The Daily Poetical- Thanksgiving Addition
Featured Poem-
This is one of my favorite poems of all time, but I don't know who wrote it!!
The Turkey Shot out of the Oven
The turkey shot out of the oven,
and rocketed into the air,
It knocked every plate off the table,
and partly demolished a chair.
It ricocheted into a corner,
and bust with a deafening oom.
then splattered all over the kitchen,
completely obscuring the room.
It stuck to the walls and the windows,
It totally coated the floor,
there was turkey attached to the ceiling,
where there'd never been turkey before.
It blanketed every appliance,
It smeared every saucer and bowl,
there wasn't a way I could stop it,
that turkey was out of control.
I scraped and scrubbed with displeasure,
and thought with chagrin as I mopped,
that I'd never again stuff a turkey,
with popcorn that hadn't been popped!

Thanksgiving Books to Read-
The Mayflower and the Pilgrims New World by Nathaniel Philbrick (non-fiction, adapted for kids from the bestseller "Mayflower".
Needle and Thread by Ann M. Martin (second book in the Main Street series)
For younger readers-
Mayflower Treasure Hunt by Ron Roy (A-Z mysteries Super Edition)
Wizards Do Roast Turkeys by Marcia Thronton Jones and Debbie Dadey
Goonie Bird Greene and the Room Mother by Lois Lowrey
Interesting facts about the First Thanksgiving-
- It happened in late September or early October, 1621 (right after the harvest).
- Instead of a English affair, it was more like a native celebration.
- Massasoit brought 100 native americans (twice the amount of Pilgrims in Plymouth!) to the celebration.
- They ate turkeys, duck, geese, deer, and many harvested vegtables like corn and squash.
Happy Thanksgiving from the Moisens!

The Daily Poetical
Here is an ode by Kayla. In the next Daily Poetical we will feature one by Alyssa about the Harry Potter books.
Ode to my Skis
I rush out
Of bed to get dressed, Run up the stairs to have
A quick breakfast bar
Mmm. All done, run run ahh the first ray of sunlight
It fills me with joy
Then I see the skis glistening with dew in the early morning light.
The lake as smooth as glass
Says to me
"Come, come, and please shatter me"
As I touch the skis it's like the taste of
Happiness;
Joy, love, and familiar all in one.
The cool, soft
And snug boot wraps my foot
With a warm hug as I slide into it.
I grasp the cool, rubber handle
Ready to go
As I hear the rumble of the motor
"1, 2, 3, Go!" I feel the drops of water rolling
Off my legs
The air rushes through my hair
Lifting my spirits.
As I take a deep breath
I feel so good I could fly
Then I hear the skis lift again
From the water like a suction cup
Beng pulled off
I'm a bird who rules the sky
As I leap and glide all over
Outside, inside, and outside again, Back and forth
I feel the water
Splashing
My face as I think
6:45 was so worth it.
Than as I glide in
Like a ton of bricks
The smell of pancakes
Welcomes me back
From a day's well done
That is untill the lake clears Again
When the sun is low in the pale cloudless blue sky tommorrow another day.

The Dog, Cat, and Pig Section-by Maggie
Maggie writes a series of books called the Dog, Cat, and Pig series. She has great illustrations,
but I can't show them.
Dog, Cat, and Pig #1
One day, Dog, Pig, and Cat went to find each other. But because they all went looking for each other they were out of luck. Then they all heard a scary sound. It sounded like this: hisss hiss hiss, heee heee heee, Aaaa. And they all ran to Dog's house. Ahhhhhhhh! The End.
Poem of the Issue
Hope is the Thing with Feathers by Emily Dickonson
Hope is the thing with feathers, That perches on the soul, And sings the tune without words, And never stops at all.
And sweetest in the gale is heard, And sore must be the storm, That could abash the little bird, That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chillest land, And on the strangest sea; Yet, never, in extremety, It asked a crumb from me.

The Daily Poetical
by Jack Prelutsky
The birds are winging south,
Give Mother Earth,
A hug for me,
Be kind to her,
Go hug a tree.
FOURKU! A fourku has four lines and each line has four syllables.
One example is “Mother Earth” and another is one I wrote in 4th grade.
Standing up high,
Giving us air,
Shedding your leaves,
When Fall is there.
